Neuroscience foundations; human stimulation tests using tDCS and neurofeedback, with a focus on therapy and  hyper-interaction

This Partner represents the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Athens Medical School, as well as the Hellenic Neurosurgical Research Center. It is a specialist in neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychology, neurofeedback, and neuroscience at a clinical and research level. Clinical domains of specialty include, among others, CNS tumors, vascular and traumatic brain injury (TBI), chronic pain, spasticity, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, vegetative state and minimally conscious state. It has extensive experience in deep brain stimulation (DBS), with cutting edge pioneering clinical and research achievements in previously non-treatable CNS pathologies. This partner is involved on a routine basis with neuroimaging, and an intensive care unit with ventilated patients in the high dependency and critical care unit of the Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens. It is also involved in neuropsychological and vigilance pre-surgical assessment, 24hr video EEG monitoring, WADA testing, qEEG analysis, invasive EEG with deep brain or dura electrodes, microdialysis and neuromonitoring on a 24hr basis for tissue O2, intercranial pressure, tissue glucose, and tissue neurochemistry. In addition, it is engaged in medical drug testing, involving  single and multi-centre clinical trials, and is a partner in EU FP6 IP project SENSATION.
